Certified Medical Assistant

The Division of Dermatology is seeking a certified medical/nursing assistant in the General Dermatology section of Dermatology. The assistant will provide patient care to adult and pediatric patients. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: scribing the entire visit: recording subjective, objective (physical exam), assessment (diagnosis), plan (orders and instructions), and charging for procedures, implementation of the plan delivered by provider which includes placing orders (labs, imaging, referrals, education, medications/refills, medical equipment, letters), patient work-up, in-basket messages, prior authorizations, maintaining patient flow, assisting the Mohs surgeon/General Dermatologist during outpatient services, and computer entry of patient information/visit.

CLINICAL SUPPORT POSITION – NOT SUBJECT TO STATE HUMAN RESOURCES ACT.

The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University is affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center, which serves as it’s teaching hospital, as well as the flagship hospital for ECU Health.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require registration as a Nurse Aide by the North Carolina Board of Nursing, or certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA.)

Depending on candidate qualifications, one of the following will be required:
  1. Contributing: Registered NAI through the NC Department of Health Human Services
  2. Journey: Registered NAII through the NC Board of Nursing
  3. Advanced: Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) is preferred OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). If not already certified or registered, please note that certification or registration through the previous mentioned organizations, or a CCMA through the National Healthcareer Association, must be obtained 6 months from your start date for continued employment.
