Program Support Specialist

Summary
This position is located in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), Office of Regulatory Science (ORS), Office of Medical Products Tobacco and Specialty Laboratory Operations (OMPTSLO). The incumbent assists the laboratory director and senior management in the lab by analyzing and evaluating daily operations, special projects, and data inquiries affecting laboratory operations.

Duties
  • Performs a variety of activities for the assigned organization related to the preparation and coordination of documentation and provides other special program support related activities.
  • Identifies actual or potential areas of imbalance or deficiency and recommends corrective action.
  • Compiles and prepares a wide variety of continuing or one-time special statistical and narrative reports from records maintained.
  • Serves as the Liaison to various FDA information resources management staff on projects.
  • Obtains and coordinates responses for general programmatic information requested by members and committees of Congress, officials of other government agencies, industry and consumer representatives.

Qualifications
The position of Program Support Specialist falls under the 0301 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-9, you must meet all requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 10/24/2022.

Minimum Qualifications:
Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.

GS-09: You must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07, in the Federal service, which includes: assisting senior management by analyzing and evaluating daily operations, special projects and data inquiries; conducting administrative process improvement studies; providing recommended solutions for review and evaluation of new administrative processes supporting programs.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Combination of specialized experience and graduate level education in a field related to the duties of this position that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
