Software Engineer Internship at MENA Pacs

ABOUT MENA PACS:
Mena PACS is an international collaboration management company offering PMO and digital platform tools to global aid agencies throughout the Middle East and North African (MENA). In addition to technical tools, AMENA PACs offer studies and country analysis assessments & risk mitigation tools to for-profit and nonprofit organizations. MENA PACs work in conflict and high-risk zones at the community level and with national and regional governments, focusing on connecting top-down and bottom-up initiatives.


DESIRED EDUCATION: Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline is preferred.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
°      Coursework with both object-oriented and procedural programming methodologies
°      Coursework or projects in database design and troubleshooting a plus (MySQL, MongoDB)
°      Strong understanding of software development life-cycle and best practices a plus

EXPERIENCE:
°      Knowledge of, coursework within, or project-related experience within the following is a plus:
°      Open-source CMS platform such as WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal, etc.
°      Web-based programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, HTML)
°      Mobile app development and/or React Native experience
°      NodeJS
°      Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services
°      OOP and procedural programming methodologies
°      Standard Compliant HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
°      CSS Frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, Foundation, Intuit)
°      J.S. Frameworks (e.g., jQuery, React, Vue, Backbone)
°      Git Version control (or other version control software)
°      Package management and Task Runners (e.g., NPM, Yarn, Gulp, Grunt)
°      Browser testing abilities using built-in developer tools
°      E-commerce solutions and is well-versed in e-commerce methodologies and best practices
°      Optional - TensorFlow and Machine Learning

RESPONSIBILITIES
Our web-based projects use a variety of frameworks selected on a per-project basis. Some of the more popular frameworks our Team leverages in projects are WordPress, Magento, Bootstrap, Zend Framework 2, and Google Functions. Training will be provided on all of our core platforms, tools, and technologies.


POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:

·     This is an unpaid internship.
·     Externship, internship, and college credits & mentorships eligible
·     Minimum commitment of three-months – up to one year
·     This is a remote/teleworking position (occasional travel might be required)
·     A minimum of 25 hours - up to 40 hours/ week
·     Multiple time zones working hours
·     Starts immediately – acceptance on a rolling basis
